'I lived in Belper Derbyshire for 2 years in a minute stone cottage with my partner. Unfortunately there was a pub across the road which became an extension of our front room and I must say this is the first pub I could call my local. A great set of characters, great beer and 2 years worth of thick heads. Therefore I have great memories of Belper and our time there. It is a town that was built round a mill and has a maze of paths and alleys to get you from A to B. There are many pubs that seem to be thriving that offer real ale and a a good selection of pool tables. Great walks are to be had like over Chevin but if you are a cyclist, be warned, Belper is on a hill and you always seem to be going up, never down!
